What is a sliding window?

Sliding windows are also known as gliding windows, sliders, or pocket sliders. They operate horizontally with one sash sliding past the other to provide ventilation. The sashes glide on brass rollers for smooth, easy operation. Many modern and ranch style homes are designed using the slider window style.

Sliding Windows

All Window Source sliding windows come standard with:

Multi-chambered 3 1/4 inch vinyl frames
Fusion-welded sashes and mainframes
Tandem brass sash rollers for easy operation
Sashes lift out for safe and easy cleaning
Warm edge spacer system
Double insulated glass
Meets Energy Star requirements when purchased with LowE/Argon
Transferable Lifetime Warranty

Safe and Easy Cleaning

The sashes lift out for easy cleaning without a ladder, but when in the locked position, the sashes are secure and cannot be removed.

Two-Lite Sliders

A two-lite slider, also referred to as a two section slider, has two equally sized sashes. Each sash operates to allow for ventilation from either side of the unit.

Three-Lite Sliders

A three-lite slider, also referred to as a three section slider, has a fixed center sash with an operative sash on both sides. The fixed center sash may be twice the width of the two operative sashes in a 1/4 – 1/2 – 1/4 configuration. Alternatively, all three sashes can have the same width in a 1/3 – 1/3 – 1/3 configuration.
